Envision App, now free for everyone
A practical guide to what these changes mean for you.
Update: The Envision App on iOS and Android has become completely free since version update 3.0 released on July 25th 2022.
The Envision App is going to be free from mid-July. When we started working on the Envision app back in 2017, the goal was to make sure that this incredible tool can be used by as many people as possible. After years of iterations, additions, pivots and modifications, we believe we finally have what it takes to make that happen. This blog contains all the practical information for how that change is going to happen, when it will happen and what it will mean for you as a user.
When will the change happen?
We are wrapping a few more loose ends before we can open the flood gates. So please be patient. The new Envision App Update 3.0 is scheduled to release around mid-July and once you’re on this update, the app will be free (three means free).
What does this mean for new users?
If you’re a new user, you need not do anything. Just make sure you’re on the latest version (3.0), which will be available mid-July and you can start using the app and all its features right away.
What does this mean for existing users?
If you are an existing user of the Envision app and you don’t have an active subscription, you can just update the app and continue using it. Once you are updated to Envision App version 3.0, you will be able to use the app without any limits or issues.
What does this mean for subscribers?
If you’re an active subscriber of the Envision App, we encourage you to go to the App Store or Play Store and cancel your subscription. We will also cancel any active subscriptions once 3.0 is live, however just to be on the safe side it's better if you do it too.
If you have purchased a subscription less than 14 days prior, you can request for a refund through the respective Play Store or App Store. For people who have purchased a subscription before that, we will not be able to offer you a refund; however, we will share something special with you directly by email.
All active subscribers of the Envision App will forever be a part of the legacy of Envision. You're the ones who chose to support this Envision right from when it was just two dudes with a laptop all the way to this point where we have now been able to build a mechanism to make the app free for everyone. We will send all of you a detailed email shortly to explain how we will honor your contribution and your support. For now, I think all of you should be proud that because of your support and contribution, blind and visually impaired people around the world will now be able to access a liberating tool like Envision with no barriers. When will the Envision App be free of charge in my country?
Envision App will be free in your region as soon as the Software Version 3.0 is available in the App Store or Google Play Store. This will happen around mid-July.
Will all features be available in Envision App Version 3.0?
Yes, you will be able to access all the same features that you were able to access before. You will also continue to receive the app updates and feature improvements as you previously did.
How can I update the Envision App?

How can I check which version of the Envision App I'm running?
You can find this within the Envision App itself. Tap on the ‘Settings’ tab and select the ‘About Envision’ option. A new window will open with the version number that the application is running.
If I have recently purchased my Envision App subscription, am I entitled to a refund?
If you have purchased a subscription less than 14 days prior, you can request for a refund through the respective Play Store or App Store. For people who have purchased a subscription before that, though we will not be able to offer you a refund, we will be sharing something special with you directly by email.
How can I cancel my active subscription?

What happens if I don’t cancel my active subscription?
If you don’t cancel your subscription, we will still deactivate it. However, you might get charged if it is not done in time based on your subscription date. We therefore recommendou cancel the subscription at your earliest convenience.
